Visual artist and performer Ernestyna Orlowska is 188cm tall, former circus performer Daniel Klingen Borg measures 165cm. There are 23cm between their vertices. This relatively small height difference puts the masculine in femininity and the feminine in masculinity up for discussion. Who would take the male part in a classical dance setting? What do these bodies have to say in this constellation? How much does the body control the hegemonic narrative of the construction of gender binarity? How much does this narrative control the body? And what choreography results from the physicalities of the two performers?

In SHOULD I DO THE MAN’S PART, two performers explore a physical language liberated from habitual conventions and fixed ideas of gender. On an empty stage, they move beyond their comfort zones, inviting both themselves and the audience to loosen the grip of gender norms and stereotypes. With vulnerability and curiosity, they immerse themselves in movement and in the unclassifiable differences between their bodies. A playful, wordless dance duet for a tall woman and a short man.
